Tour’s problems extend far beyond its gacha. The Score Attack nonsense on top of actually playing Mario Kart is an embarassment as opposed to buying the Booster Course Pass, and playing all of Tour’s tracks there. Including Sky-High Sundae, which I swear I do not understand the complaints for. It’s still better than not being able to play as Yoshi right out of the box unless you get him from the rotating shop or the gacha.

I’m not excited for pipes being removed. The characters will for sure be much more expensive and you receive less now. Before even if you didn’t get what you want you got 10 other items.

Let’s be real here: Mario Kart Tour has a lot more problems than just its gacha mechanics. The score attack direction the game took is still a stain on Mario Kart and is the main reason why so many people don’t consider Tour to be a real Mario Kart game. It was a terrible idea on paper that was somehow evem worse in execution. Leveling up your account takes way too much time and it’s even worse trying to level up drivers and karts/gliders.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s great that the horrid loot boxes are finally being removed (seriously, good fucking riddance) but that’s just the first step in the right direction that this game so desperately needs.
